CLASS DESCRIPTIONS​

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy:  This class is based on AKC's S.T.A.R. Puppy program which encourages puppies to be courageous and confident learners.  In this class we cover the basics, as well as some management tools like crate training, teething, socialization and more.  This class is six weeks long and puppies must be between 10 weeks old and 4 months old.  If puppy attends all six weeks and accomplishes the tasks set by AKC, puppy will earn the title of AKC S.T.A.R. puppy.  We encourage you to read this.

Basic Manners:  This class is designed for puppies four months or older.  We go over loose leash walking, recalls, sit, down and stay, as well as a few other useful commands.  This is a great place to start!  This class is 6 weeks long and will have weekly homework.

Advanced Manners: This class expands on the skills learned in Basic Manners, which is a prerequisite.  This class is 7 weeks long, with the last class being a CGC test.  There is no additional fee for the CGC test.  Read this description provided by AKC.

Pet Therapy Prep:  Dogs must have their CGC.  This class prepares teams for pet therapy work.  We introduce several distractions, work on advanced commands and social interactions.  Some classes are traveling and will be held at different locations to allow a wide variety of exposure and practice. (This is not designed or intended to be service dog training)

Community Canine:  Dogs must have their CGC.  This class is designed to prepare dogs to take their CGCA test.  Class sites are different each week and include parks as well as pet friendly stores.  The class is 6 weeks long with the last class being the CGCA test, which is included in the class price.  Please read this description by AKC.  There will also be an opportunity to take the CGCU test after class completion (there is an additional fee of $20 for the CGCU).  Read about the CGCU here.

Beginner Scent Work:  This introduction class is for those new to scent work.  We introduce the game and the first scent, birch.

 

Advanced Scent Work:  For dogs expanding on their skills learned in beginner class.  We also introduce a second scent. 

​

Competition Classes:  This classes adds additional scents and difficulty.  This class prepares dogs and handlers for AKC and UKC competition.  

​

Traveling Class:  Dogs must have passed beginner and advanced scent work.  This class is excellent to prepare teams for working through distractions and developing confidence.

• All classes are $100

• Dogs must be current on all age appropriate immunizations.  You will be required to present proof of vaccinations at our first class.

• Classes are 50 minutes long.  Please arrive 10 minutes prior to class in order to allow your dog time to potty.  Please pick up any messes made by your dog.

• Classes are open to all breeds.

Please be prepared for class by bringing these items:

• Flat buckle collar

• 6 foot leash (Flexi-Leads are not allowed)

• Small, soft easy to consume treats

• Pouch to carry treats

• Potty/poop bags

• Some classes, like scent work, will require additional items. Your instructor will provide that information ahead of time.
